Slam do Corpo: Brief Study on Deaf Poetry in Slam Poetry

Abstract

This article is part of the ongoing doctoral research in the area of Literature and Culture (PPGLITCULT/UFBA) on the study of the performance of the body present in Slam poetry with a cut for artists and groups in Brazil. In this work, we dialogue with the definition of Slam poetry, directing us to our main object of study: the Slam do Corpo, the first Slam for deaf and hearing people in Brazil. During this brief study, we will discuss about deaf poetry and its main characteristics, as well as the influence of Slam do Corpo in the process of self-representation of deaf communities in Brazil.
